Getting Off the Couch

Today was the start of my second week of attempting a couch to 10k program.  I’ve been using this one that I found on Spark.  I think it’s pretty good.  It starts off nice and slowly, but is still challenging.  My only complaint is that the number of minutes for the entire days run is often added up incorrectly.

I actually really do enjoy running and exercising in general.  It’s the getting started bit that I often have problems with.  I’m hoping that having a blog that I report on will keep me a bit more honest this time around.

Prior to my wedding I worked my butt off, quite literally.  I lost 35 lbs.  However, even when I got to my lowest weight I still had about another 25 (including vanity weight) to go.  I really like to get to the point where I’m a UK size 12 – 14 instead of a 16 – 18.  For any Americans reading this, UK sizes are basically 2 sizes larger than American ones.  Therefore, if you a UK 18, you’d be a US 14.

When I started my last exercise regime I let myself buy anything that I thought I would do.  This included a gym membership, loads of DVD’s (mainly Jillian Michaels) and a handful of fitness related Wii games.  Anything to get me off my butt.  I want to find a way that would make use of everything I have in a certain period of time.  Does anyone have any suggestions or inspiration?

  1. I keep thinking about doing one of those "couch to 10K" type things as I know I don't do enough exercise and would really love to do a charity run next year..maybe I ought to follow your example and get off my bum and do it!
I also wanted to say thanks for your lovely comment on my blog :) Jules xx

  2. I've got to say I absolutely love the Wii Fit, it's brilliant for fitting in 30 minutes here and there since it's just at home and there's no going out required!

  5. Totally agree that the hardest part is getting started. I wish there was some way my brain could remember how good my body/mind feel when I work out regularly. Trying to get back into it now. I just do home work out videos because it means you can work out in your underwear at home!
