I’ve been reading blogs for years. I love them. I go thru fazes with them depending on what my biggest interests are at the moment and how much time I have to invest in reading them. Recently I discovered Google Reader (I’m always very late to jump on new technologies) and the number of blogs I read has exploded. I also have a huge amount of free time on my hands to indulge all my blog reading loving ways.
The other day while taking a walk with my husband I was recanting something I had read from one of my favorite blogs. My husband asked me why I didn’t have a blog. I replied, I did have one, I just didn’t finish it. You see, I spent 20 months traveling around the world and blogged all but the last three weeks of it. How horrible. I then went on to say that I don’t have anything to say that would interest anyone else. My husband argued that that just wasn’t true, that I have loads of things to say.
After thinking about it for a while I realized that I might just have something to say after all. I’ve just gotten married and moved from New York City to London. I could be an expat blogger! But, as I follow a lot of expat blogs already, I didn’t feel that there was a lot of value that I could add to the blogesphere. Not on a regular basis anyways.
I’ve also recently be trying to learn how to cook. I’ve always loved baking (mainly because I like to eat cookies and cake), but cooking actual food has been a challenge to me. I could write about that. Or I could write about my current job search, maybe this could be my expat angle? I work in a bit of a small specialty sector of finance though, so not all of my tips, ideas, advice would fit general job hunting well.
Once I’ve landed the perfect job and have an income again I’d like to start finding my perfect style and learning how to dress myself as an adult and not as a person who is saving to travel, or preparing to throw everything away and move to another country. I’m also working on losing quite a bit of weight so that I will look good in my new clothes. I’ve also got some thrifty tendencies from having so many reasons to save money over the past several years. I’d also like to decorate our new house in a fashion that oozes style and good taste but also is also comfortable and not over the top expensive.
I guess I do, in fact, have a lot to say. So this will be an expat life, novice cooking, indulgent baking, job hunting, money saving, shopping, home decoration blog with a bit of exercise thrown in blog. Please note that I may amend the topics at any time with little or zero notice. It will be a curious collection of thoughts. My goal is to update three or four times a week. Putting it all in writing makes it seem much more serious.
Im Not a Very Good Cook, But I Love Reading About what Other people have Made So it would be Great if you wrote about that, I Love all Your ideas and would love to read about them :D xx
