Thifty Monday

Hi everyone!  This week I'm going to get back to our regularly scheduled programming, which means more Utility China!

First up is a Woods Ware Iris jug.  Eventually I'll line up all my Woods Ware jugs for a group photo, but I'd like to find some more sizes first for Jasmine and Iris.

Next up is a Grindley Petalware jug in a lovely lemon color.

Wow, this was not the most interesting week.  I hope you all did better than me!

I’m going to link up with Her Library Adventures and Flea Market finds, Magpie Monday at Me and my Shadow, Thrift Share Monday at Apron Thrift Girl and Thrifty Love over at Cap Creations.

Thrifty Finds: US Version

Good morning everyone!  I'm recently back from a trip to the US and it would be remiss if I didn't show you what I managed to pick up there.

I really love Pyrex, but find that I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the designs on English Pyrex.  I spend loads of time coveting the fabulous finds of fellow bloggers.  I feel pretty lucky that I managed to find one US Pyrex piece over here, but yearned for more.  This prompted me to drag not just my husband, but my parents into a few Goodwill shops.

At first I had no luck, and really didn't expect to find anything right from the start.  Then I walked into a Maryland Goodwill store.  I had about 4 Pyrex knockoff dishes (Fire King, Bakelite, etc)  when I stumbled on this set of bowls.  It's called Forest Fancy.  I squealed and my parents and husband rolled their eyes.  How would I ever get something so big and heavy and breakable back to the UK?  I said that I would bring it back in pieces and store it at my parents, with the rest of my crap.  More rolled eyes and a reminder that I'm meant to be bringing thing this I already own back home with me. A this point I rolled my eyes.

My eye roll landed on a very pretty piece of Corning Ware (the company that owns Pyrex) called Cornflower Blue.  It turned out that this is the pattern my Grandmother had owned, but no one knows what happened to it all.   I bought it because its the perfect size for dinner for two and its pretty.  I'm not going to start collecting Corning Ware.  I feel that Utility China and Pyrex are enough for now.  However, this piece was just too perfect to pass up.

To make a long story longer, I managed to get all these pieces back to London on this trip.  I'm just thrilled to have them in my collection here!
