Thrifty Monday

I thought that I would do something a bit different this week.  I love to show and tell pretty much everything I buy/acquire/collect.  Sometimes I spend entirely too much money and it would be a bit weird or show-offy (is that a word?).  However, this post cost me nothing.  You see, these are all pieces from my Mom.

I adore the past in general and love family history and having pieces of it that I can touch.  This is challenging when you live 3500 miles away from your family.  I can't bring any big antiques over, so I revel in the small things.

This tea cup was part of my Grandmothers wedding china set.   It's from a company called Harmony House.  I've never heard of it before, but I think that it's really pretty.  The flowers in the tea cup are from my mom's wedding bouquet.

My Mom loves to collect things that have her maiden name or my now maiden name in it.  That's why I have this 1950's Tala Cooks Measure (made in England so I guess its returned home) and this Moore Milk bottle.  I put white paper in the bottle to make it easier to read the front.

I've also managed to score a piece of Pyrex, its a small bowl from the Homestead range.  It matches the one I found several months ago here.  This particular bowl was given to my mom by our former neighbors way back when I was still in diapers.  Interestingly, this former neighbor hails from Devon and still remains close to my mom.

Do these count as Thrifty finds?  Anyone else enjoy collecting family heirlooms?

I’m going to link up with Her Library Adventures and Flea Market finds, Magpie Monday at Me and my Shadow, Thrift Share Monday at Apron Thrift Girl and Thrifty Love over at Cap Creations.
